Tom was born and raised in Michigan, the state that has several great lakes in close proximity.  Given the flyway that the great lakes affords, Taber was brought up to hunt and respect ducks and their beauty.  When he was young he was taught to hunt ducks by his uncle and their entire duck hunting spread was hand carved by this same uncle.  Given the success and relative beauty of this working flock, Taber had his inspiration.  His attention to detail is well known and respected and sought after around the country and world.
