What you eat has always been heavily connected with acne. For many decades people around the world have believed that eating oily things or lots of chocolate leads to acne formation. In recent times however, this myth has been firmly disproven and it is now safe to eat these things. You can certainly enjoy as much chocolate as you like and your acne condition is unlikely to get worse. You can similarly consume oily food to your heart’s content, but just ensure not to wipe your oily fingers on your face afterwards. Luckily food doesn’t have a connection to acne production afterall , but there is a link between these two foods and poor health so it doesn’t mean you can just pig out. When possible, try to forget about the myths if they don’t apply to us – otherwise they can get in the way of proper acne treatments that actually work. Continue reading

Chin Acne Prevention and Treatments
If having an acne breakout is bad enough, having them on your chin can be very embarrassing. Chin acne and other types of facial acne have been known to create not just physical challenges but emotional and psychological as well. In cases of severe acne breakouts, many are known to develop a reclusive nature resulting from a low self esteem. Chin acne, in particular is quite noticeable as well as painful.
The good news is acne is the most common form of skin disorder. It affects millions of people in both their puberty and adult stages. There is no established single cause of acne breakouts. It is triggered by the presence of three key ingredients – sebum, an oily substance produced by sebaceous glands in the epidermis; dead skin cells; and acne causing bacteria. Sebum will mix with dried cells inside hair follicles forming a plug. This will be metabolized by bacteria creating a wound and some swelling.
Chin acne, in particular can be quite unsightly because of its prominent position. What’s more they are typically large and painful. One of the very common causes of acne breakouts in the chin in women is a high level of male hormones called androgens. Androgens have an effect on the production of oils in the sebaceous glands thus creating a higher risk of an acne breakout. This type is called hormonal acne. Women experience a heightened level of hormones during periodic cycles such as pregnancy or during menstrual periods.
It can be very difficult to predict where and when an acne breakout will occur – your cheek, chin or forehead. There are various types of medication to cure acne depending on the severity of the breakout. If severe, each case is treated on its individual characteristics. Forehead acne treatments, chin acne treatments and all other acne remedies can include the following:
- Topical medication and antibiotics
- Oral antibiotics and contraceptives
- Laser treatment
- Saline injections
- Surgical procedures
Most cures for acne would fall under the categories above. These treatments are used to treat acne that already exists. Acne prevention can boil down to simple, easy and regular habits that can reduce the risk of acne breakouts. Here are a few tips:
- Wash your face using a gentle face cleanser at least twice a day. Don’t over wash as this may cause dryness and eventually trigger an increase in the production of oil. Do not irritate the skin by using an abrasive wash cloth;
- Avoid using oil based products on your skin. Again this will increase the amount of oil in the skin;
- Avoid other skin irritants such as over exposure to the sun. This will cause skin dryness.
By following a few simple and daily steps, you would have reduced the risk of acne breakouts in the skin.
Is Your Acne Out Of Control?
No matter if you are 18 years old and graduating from high school, or you are 35 and at the peak of your career, if you suffer from acne you have one thing in common: You want it gone and you want it gone now. For those who have unsightly and uncomfortable blemishes all over their face and body, they are in luck. Throughout the past few years dermatology experts have formulated advanced anti acne creams and solutions to treat out of control acne.
Acne is caused by high amounts of oil in the skin called sebum mixing with dead skin cells. This mixture creates red blemishes, blackheads and whitehead. When acne begins to rage out of control it is far more difficult to treat and can cause permanent facial scars. Because of this it is important to target the root of the cause early. Facial cleansers and sterilizers help sufferers. Although there is no one single medicine that can fully treat body acne, a combination treatment can be formulated to suit each person’s specific needs.
The first and foremost important thing when treating facial and body blemishes that have seemed to sprout in excess is to avoid popping or squeezing them. This can worsen the blemishes or even cause scars. Consult a dermatologist who has the proper instruments and techniques to extraction. You must also find the right product to treat your skin. The correct product will be designed for your type of skin whether it is oily or sensitive. They will also fighting bacteria, reduce the production of oil and inflammation, and exfoliate your epidermis.
When combining treatments with the consultation of a qualified dermatologist, you will find that your acne will vanish or lessen. Make sure to ask your dermatologist for recommendations on good over the counter products along with prescriptions. You will find your discomfort will lessen and you will gain self confidence.
