An Honest Review of Ranbir Kapoor’s Rockstar Movie

Lately, I have been into watching bollywood movies, particularly Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan’s films. While reading subtitles can really be annoying, I think straining my eyes is all worth it if the movie I am watching offers something really great.

As I was browsing through the internet one evening, I came across Rockstar, a Bollywood movie directed by Imtiaz Ali, which tells of a love story between an aspiring musical talent (Ranbir Kapoor) and a free-spirited woman (Nargis Fakhri ) who fell in love with each other during an inopportune time.

At first look, the movie seems to try to showcase an insight on the anguish of a lost rockstar. In my opinion, Ranbir Kapoor fit the role perfectly. In fact, he channeled Jordan, the rockstar, superbly that I felt Kapoor was actually Jordan. Kapoor, dubbed as the next big Kapoor in Bollywood, delivered a stunning and very impressive acting performance. The  best by far, to say the least. You will feel the character’s anguish since he projected just enough emotional intensity for each scene.

Nargis Fakhri, on the other hand, may not be as amazing as Kapoor  (acting-wise) – probably because of her lack of acting experience – but she surprisingly matched well with Kapoor’s character Jordan/Janardhan. Nargis plays the role of Heer Kaul, Kapoor’s love interest in the movie.

The movie was filmed in stunning European locales, including the breath-taking Prague. Because of this, film, it is highly likely that Indian tourists will soon flock to the city. The scenes between Nargis and Ranbir are the ones I love the most since I felt the intense emotions and the tension between the two leads is very much palpable. Their on-screen chemistry is also quite good, noting that this is their first time to be paired together.

The movie, which is about 2 hours and 38 minutes long, was a delight to watch particularly Ranbir’s great acting as he channels the angry rockstar but I’m really not that happy with the ending. The ending of the movie was a bit disappointing, it wasn’t clear what happened between the two leads or maybe I just didn’t understand the film’s metaphorical ending; either way I think they could have done a much more seamless ending.

Just like directv packages, Rockstar has its strengths and weaknesses but overall it is a great watch and for the most part, I was entertained.

Putting A Little More Fun In The Party

It always seems to me, that there’s far too much real working going on in my life, and not enough fun. So, I say it’s time to have a little fun and throw a party. Any old excuse will do. For me, at the moment, I’m thinking of a “I’m totally sick of winter party”. It seems like a good one to me. And, there’s nothing to say how you would make things a little more fun for one of these made up parties. Personally, I like the mash-up approach. Let’s say, that for this kind of get together, we’ll invest in some ladybug party supplies, and then toss in a few robot party supplies just for extra measure. There are no rules here. It’s my party, and I’ll go crazy if I want to ;)

The whole point of the exercise, is to break out of those old dull routines and try something a little different. Now if you really want to have some fun, and are a little creative, go ahead and make some of your own party decorations for the event. It will not only make the actual party more personal and engaging, but will also help get you and your helpers into the festive spirit ahead of time. Planning and organizing for a big event like this can be a little stressful for some, but doing something creative and different sort of lightens the mood.

A Fake Doctors Sick Note

Many people find it shocking that a market for fake doctors sick notes is booming on the internet. Excuses to take time off from work or school while avoiding penalty is just minutes away with the help of a computer and printer. Customers can purchase fake doctors sick notes from gynecologists, psychiatrists, and even dentists. Should markets like these be allowed to exist? What does this teach the youth about values and lying? Why is there such a demand for people to buy fake doctors sick notes? Do most of these people really need a break from their daily workload or is this about not missing the World Cup or other such entertainment?

Would You Use a Fake Doctors Sick Note?

The answers to the first two questions will undoubtedly vary from person to person. However, the final two questions imply something may be very wrong with our current society, i.e. our morals or the employment system. Although it is possible to buy some very high quality fake doctors sick notes that mirror the genuine articles to a tee, there is still a degree of risk involved when lying to your professor or employer. The fact that so many people are willing to gamble their education or financial income just for a small break speaks volumes on how these people view their current situations.

In a world where everyday the media is telling you that being politically correct is more important than honesty, it would be cliché to just say, “it’s not worth the risk to use fake doctors sick notes.” This is especially true if you are the one who failed a class or lost a job for being honest while knowing for a fact that others in identical situations are “getting over” using them and not even being questioned, let alone penalized. Is it okay to use them? You be the judge, however, this topic brings another famous cliché to mind: “Good guys finish last!”

Watch Your Favorite Shows on DVD or a DVR

Anyone who has ever rushed home worrying about catching their favorite television program while it is on can probably understand the frustration with hurrying home only to find something else on or a rerun they have already seen.  We don’t like to have our lives ran be television networks and when they think our favorite shows are going to be on.  Worse yet, what happens when you have commitments that are at the same time?  Today we have plenty of other options to rushing home to see our favorite shows.  Both TV on DVD and using a DVR can help us take back control of our schedules.
One of my favorite ways to watch television shows is on DVD.  These are great to have around if you have a sick day or don’t feel like watching anything on TV but want to watch something.  I have all of the One Tree Hill Seasons on DVD and I love pulling them out and watching my favorite episodes and characters all over again.   Another advantage is if you have never seen a series you can watch all of the episodes from the beginning.  I’ve done this a couple of times and its fun to see everything back to back the way the producers meant it to be.
Getting a DVR from your satellite or cable provider is another great option.  You can often rent these for a low monthly fee and they come with a hard drive that can store a certain amount of hours on them.  You just look up your favorite show in the programming guide and then you can set it up to not miss another episode.  You don’t have to worry about reruns or programming changes the DVR does it for you.  They are really easy to operate and you can have it record older episodes too, if you want.  They do have limited space so unfortunately you can’t have all of the episodes from every TV show you like saved up.  At some point space will run out and it won’t be able to record any more until you delete or watch some of them.
Also, if you enjoy a certain show you probably also  enjoy the music they play on them.  I also own the One Tree Hill Soundtracks and it is a great way to enjoy the music and remember what was going on when the song played.  I often play these in the car with my friends or husband, who doesn’t watch the show, and they will comment on how great the music is and ask me what it is from.  They are a little surprised when I tell them it is a TV soundtrack.

Funny Quotes about Life as Ice Breakers

You may have encountered lots of adages and quotes about life. These quotes may have influenced you one way or the other. It is truly amazing how these statements can influence our views and outlook on life. I myself am influenced as well especially by those funny quotes about life. It brings light to what seem to be a busy and cloudy day. These quotes are ice breakers.  I have my own choice of funny quotes which changed my whole perspective about life. These are but simple quotes but they have relevance to how we live our lives.
“People say life is short, but apart from de-compose what do you do that takes longer than life?”
Living is the longest process that comprises life. It is hopefully never short. There are even those who choose to end it without a warning. Life is never short for people whose hopes are low and are dispirited because of misery. Life’s process only ends when death takes charge.

“There are three stages in a person’s life, birth, their life and death. They are not conscious of birth submit to death and forget to live.”
When mother died, I felt like the world was inflicting endless tortures upon me. I did not feel like living life anymore and that I was actually dead to the world. I left an impression of casual indifference to people who seemed to care for me. I felt so alone and that day I momentarily forgot how to live until I slowly picked myself up. My friends and family showed me how to live again. It was as though I were reborn.

“They Say Only The Strong Survive But Is That The Truth? Even The Strong Die, Check The Cemetery For Proof.”
This quote really threw me to stitches. If you only exude strength physically then you are not strong at all. You will not survive in the long run. A real strong man can survive whatever life throws his way. Even if he dies, he dies with honor and integrity. Being strong is not about maintaining your machismo; it is about facing every challenge that come your way and not being afraid to fail.

“Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.”
The moment you take the challenge of living life, there is no turning back. You can’t relive the past to correct your mistakes. Life is a masterpiece if you extract your creative juices in living your life. Committing mistakes in itself is art— an abstract art. We may not know what these mistakes mean to us at first glance but once we see the finished product of our hard work, it is then that we realize that those mistakes honed us to become a better painter of our lives.

These are the funny quotes about life that can teach us a few things about dealing with challenges and obstacles that we may encounter. In the end it will be all up to us how we live our life fruitfully.
