Toltec’s Tiffany Lighting is a Great Choice for Any Pool Room

There are some fantastic choices out there for a pool table light these days. One of my favorite styles is Tiffany lighting from Toltec. These lights are a great addition to any pool room. They are finely crafted of stained glass and brass tubing in an elegant display.

Personally, my favorite of the bunch is #129 Popular Pearl Tiffany Light. It showcases pearl and green stained glass that matches beautifully with the standard green of the table fabric. At $475, the Pearl and Green runs about average for pricing on these kinds of lights. And I’d say it’s well worth the cost for something so nice. I like this popular choice because of its two-toned colors. It adds some nice stylish vibrancy to any room.

Another great choice is the ClearGlass pool table light. It is designed with 10 candelabra lights arranged at the top of the fixture, and 2 standard lights pointing down at the table. The ClearGlass runs about $630, a bit heftier than some other lighting fixtures, but probably worth stretching your budget for if it matches the décor of you entertainment room. It is extremely eye catching, with brass tubing and a clear glass over the candelabras. Giving off the feel of old-world billiard parlors, cobblestone streets, and gas-lights, it is a wonder to behold. The only improvement it could have would be to add some smokey tinting to the clear glass to take away a bit of the glare.

Most Toltec pool table lights, excluding the ClearGlass, can be assembled with two, three, or four lights as part of the configuration. The price goes up with each additional light. You can often get single-bulb pendant lights as well, with attaching chains or a light-stand, to extend a theme throughout your room. If you’re in the market for a great stained glass pool table light, you might not need to look any further than Toltec brand Tiffany lighting.

Persian Rug Placement Tips

It’s fine to use rugs in traffic areas as long as it’s a bigger part of the rug, and not just the corner.  This is because it will wear very quickly, and it may also be a trip hazard for people moving along the passage.

If you have a large room (such as a sitting or lounge roon), you can cordon off a part of the room by placing a mid sized ( 4 by 6 feet to 5 by 8 feet) area rug in a corner, or another part of the room, and placing a few chairs and a coffee table around it.  The best shape for the rug would probably be round rug, hexagonal rug or octagonal rug.  Often a rug which is lighter in color and having at most a minimal pattern would likely be an ideal choice for most rooms.

A rug can truly define a space, setting it apart from the rest of the room.  Commonly, the front legs of a chair or rug will be placed on a rug, sometimes all 4 legs.  Ideally though, it is best to avoid having more than a couple of feet at the rear of any furniture on a rug, and ideally, any people sitting in furniture around the rug will want to be able to place both feet on the rug.

The Nativity Scene

The Nativity Scene is possibly the oldest – and one of the most enduring – of all Christmas imagery. It depicts the birth of Jesus according to the Gospel of Luke and the Gospel of Matthew. All the other image of Christmas – Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman – came into existence after the event that the nativity depicts.

A nativity scene is sometimes called a crèche or crib. Over time, the nativity has expanded into hundreds of settings. We find it in paintings, in posters, in prints, on cards, and even in movies. But it is not limited to two-dimensional settings. There are dioramas and nativity sets that people erect in their homes around the winter holidays.

There are even living nativity scenes – where real human beings and animals reenact the birth of Jesus.

In fact, the very first nativity scene was a living one. It was created by Saint Francis of Assisi, who wanted to give his followers a concrete way to deepen their faith. Using human beings and animals, he literally filled a stable. This took place in the early thirteenth century and quickly caught on.

A nativity scenes includes at least three human figures – Mary and Joseph, the parents of Jesus, and the baby Jesus himself. Sometimes other figures are included. The shepherds who were informed by an angel that Jesus had been born, or the three wise men (sometimes referred to as Magi) who followed a star to find Jesus. Sometimes angels are included as well.

Animals are also included. A donkey and an ox are the favorites, although nativity scenes can also include sheep and lambs, goats, and even camels. All of the figures – human and animal – are depicted in a stable or barn.

Today – nearly eight centuries after Saint Francis came up with the idea – nativity scenes are a standard part of Christmas.
